Maintenance and Facility Specialist

The primary responsibility is to ensure the readiness of the training and site assets onsite. It is vital that this role can safely deliver cost effective maintenance activities, in line with planned preventative maintenance and situational demands. To actively seek and implement new improvement methods to increase reliability and to support maintenance compliance with all relative legislation and internal policies and procedures. This role will also require facility maintenance responsibilities to ensure all planned contractors are managed in accordance to company and regulatory requirements. This role is a key part of the team and is pivotal to ensure the site is safe and functional and in a constant state of readiness for the training programs to be conducted.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks are completed on time and the company’s Electronic Management System (EMS) is up to date with all records and evidence of maintenance activities.
  • Respond to all non-planned maintenance activities, to include but not limited to, diagnostics and fault testing, general repairs, electrical issues, machinery issues, facility defects.
  • Service, adjust and repair machinery and equipment using the necessary tools, in line with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) operating instructions.
  • Writing and revising relevant documentation such as maintenance and recovery procedures.
  • Control and manage the company’s permit to work and Control of Contractors processes.
  • Provide feedback to the Lead Instructors and Training Centre Manager on equipment performance and any foreseen problems. Reporting on recovery, corrective and preventative action for equipment failures.
  • Ensure all equipment needed for training course(s) are fit for purpose and are readily available prior to the course(s) starting. This will include daily servicing of life jackets and emergency breathing devices.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Mentor & coach entry level assistants, should further recruitment take place
  • Always maintain confidentiality of the Company and adhere to the principals of the Data Protection Act 1998 and GDPR regulations; information should never be disclosed to third parties without expressed permission.
  • Ensure the appropriate standards of Health and Safety are adhered to in line with The Companies Health and Safety Policy also inclusive of current and future legislation.

Candidate Requirements

  • Extensive experience in a Maintenance and Facilities role
  • Significant experience servicing mechanical compressed air systems, manifolds, SCUBA units and similar equipment.
  • Proven experience in planning maintenance operations
  • A formal qualification in pool plant management would be desirable for this role
  • Experience in managing and reviewing outsourced services including experience implementing cost saving initiatives would be desirable
  • Experience working offshore or at sea in a similar position and related to the Training Centre role.
  • Working knowledge of pool/plant pump systems, gas fed systems, and high-pressure water systems.
